Choosing a WC Frame and Flush Plate.

  • 04.08.2025

A wall-hung toilet makes your bathroom look more spacious and is easier to clean. The long-term reliability of the system is ensured by choosing the correct installation frame and a technically compatible flush plate.

1. Types of Installation Frames and Applications

The frame is the heart of the setup, designed to support heavy loads (up to 400 kg) and fit into the wall cavity.

Standard Frames (H=112 cm)

The most common choice for most bathrooms. It offers the best ergonomics and a huge variety of compatible flush plates.

Low Frames (H=82 cm and 98 cm)

An essential solution when the toilet is installed under a window, under a sloped ceiling, or within a countertop. In this case, the button can be installed either on the top or on the front of the frame.

Narrow and Slim Frames

Designed for extra small bathrooms. These frames are narrower than usual or require less depth within the wall.

2. Flush Plate Functions and Technology

The flush plate is not just a design element; it is also the access point for maintaining the entire flushing system.

Dual Flush

The standard water-saving solution. It allows you to choose between a small flush (usually 3L) and a large flush (4.5L or 6L).

Pneumatic vs. Mechanical Systems

Mechanical plates have a direct connection and are extremely reliable. Pneumatic plates work using air pressure, which allows the plate to be installed up to 1-2 meters away from the frame.

Sensor Solutions and Hygiene

Touchless flushing is activated by a hand motion. This is the most hygienic choice, reducing the spread of bacteria and perfect for a modern smart home.

Critical Rule: The flush plate and installation frame must be from the same manufacturer. A Tece plate will not fit a Geberit frame and vice versa, as flushing mechanisms are unique to each brand.

3. Materials and Bathroom Design

The flush plate is one of the few visible parts of the concealed system, making it an important part of the bathroom interior.

Finishes

A wide range of materials is available: classic plastic, elegant glass, luxurious stainless steel, or even wood and stone. Trendy matte black or brushed gold help match the button with faucets and other accessories.

Anti-fingerprint Coating (EasyClean)

Many metal and glass plates feature a special coating that keeps the surface clean even with frequent use.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I access the cistern if it's behind the wall?

All maintenance is done through the flush plate opening. When the plate is removed, the opening is large enough to replace the flush valve or filling valve without breaking the wall.

What is the difference between Sigma and Omega frames?

These are series from Geberit. Sigma is the standard height (112 cm). Omega refers to lower frames, which also require different, smaller Omega series plates.

Which installation frame brand is the best?

Market leaders like Geberit, Tece, and Grohe offer a 10-year warranty and spare parts availability for up to 25 years after a product is discontinued.
